DR. CARA SCHANTZ
Dr. Cara Schantz is a native of Northern Virginia; born and raised in McLean. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and then went on to complete her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. After dental school, Dr. Schantz chose to do a one-year residency in general dentistry in New York City.
Dr. Schantz is certified in Invisalign, the nearly-invisible braces, and has completed coursework at the Dawson Institute in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Schantz has also been trained in conscious sedation and has extensive experience performing this procedure with adults as well as children.
Dr. Schantz has practiced dentistry for several years in Northern Virginia and in 2011, opened her own private practice. Both in her own practice and as an associate at previous dental practices, Dr. Schantz has focused on providing quality, innovative dental procedures while educating her patients to the important connection between oral health and overall physical well-being.
She has participated in numerous Mission of Mercy projects that provide dental services to undeserved areas in Virginia, in addition to volunteering abroad in Jamaica, Honduras and Belize. In her free time she loves to travel and spend time exploring DC with her husband and dogs, going to local wineries and breweries and checking out new restaurants.
DR. KHASHAYAR CHANGI
Dr. Khashayar Changi became a Washington D.C. local three years ago. He is a highly-educated and skilled periodontist who sees patients at CNS 2 days a month. Dr. Changi prides himself on his ability to assess the whole of the oral cavity allowing him to offer a comprehensive treatment plan based on a multi-disciplinary approach.
He received his specialty training in Periodontics at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City, NY. Dr. Changi is a board-certified Diplomate by the American Board of Periodontology in both Periodontology and dental implant surgery.
Dr. Changi is an expert in dental implants with comprehensive training in both traditional and immediate implant placement. He has extensive experience and a unique talent for providing extractions and implants in the same-day. Dr. Changi is especially skilled in tissue grafting.
He is qualified to treat all types of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions with proficiency in surgical and non-surgical treatment methods. Dr. Changi has extensive experience in all facets of oral implantology including the management of peri-implant disease, guided bone regeneration, immediate and delayed implant placement, and digital treatment planning.
When Dr. Changi is not treating patients, he enjoys skiing and playing golf. He and his fiance enjoy traveling to New York, Germany, and Italy. Dr. Changi loves pop art; his favorite artists are Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, among others. He also enjoys exploring wineries and doing wine tastings. His favorite food is ramen and his favorite ramen restaurant is Daikaya in Chinatown.
DR. JACKIE CHENG
Dr. Jackie Cheng believes in building strong relationships with her patients in order to provide the best possible treatment. She believes that trust is an important foundation for designing healthy, beautiful smiles.
Dr. Cheng received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Case Western Reserve University with a full scholarship from the US Army. Her research in public health dentistry has been recognized by the American Dental Association. She was honorably discharged after serving as an Active-Duty officer for four years in Germany and Japan. She has extensive experience in emergency management, prosthodontics, and aesthetic dentistry.
Dr. Cheng is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and German. She has treated patients from all around the world. She volunteers at Federally Qualified Health Centers to treat underserved communities and to promote patient advocacy.
In her free time, Dr. Cheng enjoys salsa dancing, curing charcuterie, and putting together jigsaw puzzles with her husband and two dogs.
